Hi My Name is Heather and I'm a Food Addict...

Aloha All! So today is my day of reckoning--I am going back to Weight Watchers tonight at 5:30 pm. My eating has gotten out of control--I eat because I'm stressed, happy, sad, etc. If I see something I like I eat it even though I'm full already. I crave junk food much of the time. I'm sick of living like this and looking in the mirror and seeing a person who is at least 50 pounds overweight. I'm tired of being lazy, undisciplined, and gluttonous. My name is Heather Anne Bisenius Gillies and I am a compulsive over-eater/food addict and today I start what I plan on being a permanent journey of transformation in my life. My goal is to be healthy and to be a healthy weight. The charts say for a female who is 5'4" with a medium frame (like me:) is 124-128 lbs. and so my goal weight lies somewhere within that range. My plan is to start running again and follow the Weight Watchers Momentum Plan (WW). Eventually I would like to follow Dr. Joel Fuhrman's Eat to Live/Eat for Health Plan but while it's very nutritionally sound and supported by a TON of scientific evidence, it is a very strict plan and so I'm choosing to follow WW and incorporate some of Dr. Fuhrman's key concepts such as nutrient density into my plan.

The scale in our bathroom says I currently weigh 181 lbs. but I'm going to use the WW scales as my official measure. So, I will be back tonight to log my official weigh in for the week.:)

Some of you may be wondering why I am blogging about my weight. In short, weight and body image have been a life long struggle and to put it bluntly I'm sick and tired it--I want to be free. I am blogging about this journey to hold me accountable and perhaps to inspire/identify with anyone else who is out there who has experienced similar struggles and is on a like journey. Some of my posts may border on the catagory of TMI--too much information:) but I have found in my life that lasting change requires ruthless authenticity and truthfulness with oneself and others. Below are pics taken Monday night at 181 lbs. I will be tracking my progress through pictures at least once per week so stay tuned!

Haven't blogged in FOREVER!!!!

So I haven't blogged since December 14th!!!! That's crazy! Actually, it's not...why you ask? Because I have never been a consistent blogger to begin with, but I am hoping to change that. This post will be short but stay tuned for the updates on everything that has happened in my life over the past 5 months--engagement, marriage, etc. I will also hopefully be posting on my new diet and exercise routine in an effort to hold myself accountable. Anyways, I'm off for now---gotta go get ready to go to a goodbye party for our dear friend Virgina Thomas--one of our bridesmaids. I'll leave you with a sneak peak of some wedding pics:

A Rainy Sunday Morning in Kihei...

It's Sunday morning and I'm about to get ready to head off to church. I started the weekend with a really nasty case of the flu and have slowly gotten better after a lot of sleep and very little food--you don't have trouble keeping it down when you don't eat anything;). Anyways, just wanted a short update and I will hopefully write some more later. November was a crazy month and I thought a lot about blogging, I just didn't do it. So this is my effort to get back on the blogging wagon so to speak. Aloha.

Paperwork...

Today is a paperwork day here at CFS. I finished the monthly tracking report for our Crisis Mobile Outreach (CMO) program this morning and now I'm working on a comprehensive psychosocial assessment for a client. Hope to be done with the assessment by the end of the day so I can see clients and work on some more assessments tomorrow. More about life outside of work later. Aloha.

Just Voted...

Just went to Kihei Community Center to cast my vote for John McCain. Polls close on the east coast in a few hours so stay tuned to your preferred form of media and buckle up because things are going to get interesting before this is all over. Aloha.
